Exploring old haunts

After a morning where my golf game marginally improved but in which I enjoyed some good discussions with former colleagues we spent the late afternoon and evening wandering round the city.

The hotel offered free one way rides on the boats which sail down the Singapore river so we took advantage of the ride down to the Asian Civilisation museum which has opened close to Boat Quay since we left Singapore. It covers a broad sweep of history and geography and in particular focusses on where the diverse communities which form Singapore originate from - and provided some good links for us with regards to the countries we had travelled in in the Region.

We then walked - past the Raffles Hotel where we had enjoyed a number of special meals, through the Arab quarter and in particular down the recently renamed Muscat Street , through the Indian area (Little India) and Musfafa's famous emporium where we have bought many bargains, and ended at the French Stall - a French street cafe which we always enjoyed which was started in one of the food courts - so a three course set meal and a glass of wine ended the day.....
