
There was a lovely sunrise this morning - the sun rising above the cranes typifies Singapore - constantly reinventing itself and constantly looking to adapt to the future. The Straits Times has been full of the need for greater productivity all week and the importance of keeping older workers productive and motivated with one third of the population being over 50 in ten years time.

We were back at Leng Kwang this morning and a chance to catch up with William and Julie - her mum was still not well this morning and in intensive care and they left quickly after the service - but latest news is that she is picking up which is great.
The preacher was the former Pastor Chia Boon Beng who spoke of faith in testing times, in part from his own journey since his wife's death a year to the day before. It was good to see him and he greeted us warmly afterwards.
After the service Shan Yong who is working for Campus Crusade in China spoke about his work there together with a Chinese colleague. The growth of the church there is still exponential. In 1995 when they started there were no new Christians through their work, in 1998 64, and in 2008 120,000. Around 10% of the Chinese population are now practising Christians - more than are signed up to the communist party.

The balance of the day was centred around two meals. Jimmy and Jenny realised that we had not had sates so that was the focus for lunch and the evening was a chanc
